Fitness and Rosacea

If you love to work out and have rosacea then you know it's tough dealing with the facial flushing that comes with a great workout. I have been dealing with this for years and have found it best to moderate my routines to half hour intervals at about 50% of my capability to push myself. Its hard not being able to go full throttle and pump out a nice routine. But with sticking to 30minute workouts and trying to train in a cool atmosphere I have been able to control my facial flushing and restrict my flare-ups that come with excercise. Also at the end of each half hour session applying a damp cool towel to my face for a few minutes takes away the flushing if I push myself to hard. - I hope this helps and happy training.... Remember following a Rosacea trigger free diet and staying active in our daily lives will help our skin become healthier and have us feeling and looking great!

Rosacea Fact

Rosacea involves swelling of the blood vessels that are under our skin, making a blush let's say so that it does not go away easily. A person with this skin disorder will experience embarrassment and stress due to this flushing. This is the second most common trigger worth us Rosaceans. - lets make a goal to try to eat rosacea reducing foods to help with reducing our vascular dialation.

Mixed Berry Caprese Kabobs

2 cups fresh washed  pitted cherries
2 cups fresh washed blueberries
2 cups fresh washed blackberries
1 package fresh mint washed
1 package 6-8 ounce mozzarella pearls
1 package 6 inch bamboo skewers

Start by washing all fruit and set aside. Take each mint leaf and rip in half with fingers. Skewer the fruit with the Mozz pearls and mint alternating the fruit while building up your kabob. These can be made a day ahead of time and chilled untill ready to serve. Fun party tip; you can use these as a garnish in a glass of sangria or skewer into a watermelon rind for a nice presentation.

Chefs note: cherries, blackberries, and blueberries are vascular constrictors helping to reduce redness and facial flushing.
